Where I’ve Been

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

A few folks have been wondering where I’ve been. http://www.benadamsarts.com/?p=235 explains why I haven’t been blogging much. I hope to be back shortly with a post reaffirming where I want to go with this blog and the Misfit’s Journey story in the months to come. I’m glad the Dems did well in the ’06 elections. [...]

Light blogging ahead as I make some changes to my life

Friday, August 25th, 2006

So, yeah, things have been quiet here lately. The big reason for this is that I’m in the process of making a couple of big changes to my life that are just giving me less time to work on this blog and my comics. First of all, I started a new job a little less [...]

Podcast Corrections

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

When I recorded a podcast with Joey Manley, I got one of my facts wrong. I said that Chris Reeve’s first SUPERMAN film came out in 1979. It actually came out in December, 1978. (STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE — another movie that was very important to me — came out the following Christmas.) This [...]

WEIRD MUSE #1 front cover(c)2006 Dan W. Taylor Dan W. Taylor — not to be confused with the Dan Taylor who does SUPER HERO HAPPY HOUR — is someone who played a major part in my history as a comics creator. You can read more about the role he played on the Pre-1989 Past Works [...]

New poll on life’s frustrations

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

My first poll in now appearing in the sidebar. Please answer it. If you have the time, feel free to post your comments on it below. I’ll close the poll on April 3rd and write a wrap-up at that time. A new poll will start that same day. This first poll ties in very nicely [...]

news on “Mistaken Identity”

Thursday, June 2nd, 2005

I haven’t posted here for a bit, and I thought it would be a good idea to post an update on the status of the autobiographical “Mistaken Identity” strip that will soon appear on this site. (Archived blog entries on it are here.) Site traffic is up quite a bit. (Perhaps the word is spreading [...]

(This neighborhood looks about the way it does in this picture, BTW. I’ve really had my fill of snow and winter….I hope spring is on the way soon.)

Thoughts on Woody Allen and my upcoming comics

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

Here’s an interesting link on Woody Allen and his new film. I too go through periods where I question my own value. It’s very likely that you’re going to see a Woody Allen influence in my new comics. DECONSTRUCTING HARRY and HUSBANDS & WIFES in particular have had a big impact on me. (You might [...]

Thoughts on this blog and the state of my writing

Monday, March 7th, 2005

When I first unveiled the new “blogcentric” version of this site, I wrote an introductory post which you can see by clicking here. This post and other comments on the About page and the New Comics page should give you some idea what I’m trying to do with this blog. One big reason for the [...]

Screen capture of my spiffy-lookin’ desktop

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

Here’s what the desktop on my machine currently looks like. I use both WindowBlinds and WinStep to modify the Windows XP desktop. I also frequently download skins for both (and wallpapers too) from WinCustomize. I use WindowBlinds because I’ve gotten bored with the typical Windows desktop. I use WinStep for the same reason, but it also helps [...]

I know how you feel, Mr. Crumb.

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

[The panels above originally appeared in the story "I'm Grateful! I'm Grateful!", which appeared in WEIRDO MAGAZINE in 1989. It's copyright Robert Crumb of course.] I’ve been spending the day here in the “home office” here in southeast Minneapolis. I’m getting the same level of satisfaction out of this that Crumb gets from hanging out [...]

Great article on my old Saint Olaf College classmate Ward Sutton

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

It’s at http://www.startribune.com/stories/1375/5180417.html. Personally, I love his politics and find myself agreeing with his viewpoint 99.99 % of the time. There’s an anecdote about Ward on one of my Past Works pages on this site.
